Step 1: Apostille
Make sure that there are no initials in the birth certificate (either your name or parent's name) i.e. the names on the birth certificate should match as that on the passport. If there are any, apply for a new birth certificate. The alternative option should be the last resort after trying the first option : to get an affidavit stating that the name in the birth certificate is the same as the person in the passport and get this affidavit translated to French.
There are many private agencies who get the birth certificate apostille done, it takes around 1-2 weeks and they charge around Rs.3000-3500 depending on your city (Eg PEC Attestation). Search apostille services in google maps, go through the reviews and decide on an agency.
Information about Affidavit
Rough content : the "your_full_name" mentioned in passport (passport_number) and "your_name_in_birth_certificate" in the birth certificate (registration_number) are one and the same.
