It is suggested that those who have accessibility to join Alliance Française or other language institutions to join French classes before coming to France (even if it’s for a month). It would help you a lot. Offline courses are better because of multiple reasons:
Better pronunciation practice – bit important as French has different pronunciation for letters than English.
Sentences taught are better/relevant to daily life.
Better structure to learn grammar.
Learning French is one of the best investments you'll make before coming to France.
FAQ
The course along with the curriculum is good (in few colleges like ISAE-Supaero, ENAC, ENSMA), but since you'll be involved in lot of other subjects at the same time, it'll be bit difficult to focus on mastering the language. Some universities and courses do not have French language in the cirriculum.
Advantage of attending a course before is that you'll not start from scratch here and you'll feel a bit confident from the Day 1.
Those who do not have accessibility to classes nearby, can go online. But watch out for where you learn it from. Example:Vivre en France – A1
There are several ways to support your full-fledged online/offline courses:
Use apps like Duolingo, they will help you gain some vocabulary and practice
Watch French movies and TV shows
Youtube (Example Learn French with Alexa)
“Bonjour, Je parle Française !”
